Family Law

Family law is Emma’s principal area of practice, and since qualifying as a solicitor she has developed a busy caseload covering a broad range of private family matters. She advises clients throughout every stage of their case, from initial instruction through to final resolution, providing practical, commercially focused and compassionate advice tailored to each client’s individual circumstances.

She has experience advising on child arrangements, parental responsibility, prohibited steps orders and specific issue applications, together with cases involving allegations of domestic abuse and coercive and controlling behaviour. Emma often attends Court hearings alongside counsel to ensure that the best possible outcome is achieved for every client.

Emma has considerable experience in both negotiated settlements and contested proceedings. She advises clients in financial remedy cases involving property, pensions, businesses and wider matrimonial assets, and has assisted in securing favourable settlements in high-value cases. She understands that financial disputes can have a significant impact on her clients’ future and is committed to achieving fair and practical resolutions, whether through negotiation or contested litigation.

Emma prides herself on building strong relationships with her clients, recognising that family proceedings are often emotionally challenging and can have lasting consequences. She is known for her approachable manner, attention to detail and ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and reassuring way, ensuring clients feel supported and informed throughout the entirety of their matter.

Personal Injury & Medical Negligence

Alongside her family practice, Emma has considerable experience in personal injury and clinical negligence matters. She has assisted on a wide range of claimant claims involving employers’ liability, road traffic accidents and medical negligence.

Her work includes obtaining and analysing medical evidence, drafting pleadings, schedules of loss and witness statements, liaising with medical experts and supporting litigation through to settlement.

Emma assisted in a complex medical negligence claim arising from the stillbirth of twins, which concluded with an £80,000 settlement together with a formal apology from NHS England. She remains committed to providing sensitive, compassionate support to clients pursuing claims arising from life-changing injuries or negligent medical treatment.

Emma has assisted on contractual disputes, landlord and tenant matters, employment claims and High Court litigation. Emma played a key role in Aviva Insurance Ltd v Nadeem & Anor [2024], acting for the First Defendant in High Court committal proceedings. Her responsibilities included reviewing extensive evidence and drafting witness statements, with the Court ultimately finding the First Defendant not guilty.

Emma also assisted in an unfair dismissal claim which settled for £75,000 shortly before the Employment Tribunal hearing.

In private client work, Emma has experience drafting Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and assisting with probate and estate administration.

“I cannot recommend Shaar Bridge Solicitors highly enough, especially Jaffar and Emma. Without their support, dedication, and expertise, I truly don’t believe I would have been able to close my case and secure my rights.Throughout what was an incredibly difficult and stressful process, they showed not only outstanding professionalism but genuine humanity and compassion. They took the time to listen, explain everything clearly, and made sure I always felt supported and understood. That level of care made a world of difference.Jaffar and Emma went above and beyond at every stage, and their commitment to my case never wavered.
