This is Justice! Jaffar Shah Celebrates Victory at High Court in Landmark Libel Case

01/10/21, UK.

Halal Food Authority (HFA) alongside Mr Salahudeen Kara and Mr Tanveer Parkar, both former employees of HFA, emerged victorious with their solicitor Mr Jaffar Shah by reading out a statement in open court on the 27th of September 2021. This was a result of a successful case against Mr Paul Golding and Ms Jayda Fransen former Leader and Deputy Leader of Britain First for Libel and Breach of the Data Protection Act.

Mr Shah, the Solicitor on the case, describes the result as, ‘I am extremely happy to get this result after four long years of fighting this case alongside my clients. Shaar Bridge Solicitors is proud to have supported the Muslim community at large by winning this landmark case.’

As the High Court heard, Mr Golding and Ms Fransen published two defamatory videos on the 2nd and 6th February 2017. In the first of these videos, false and unsubstantiated allegations were made whereby it was alleged that Mr Kara and Mr Parkar were involved in funding terrorist organisations. Both videos made the same untrue and defamatory allegations about the Halal Food Authority. The videos were shared via Britain First’s website and as a result of its publication, the Claimant’s integrity was questioned by family and the wider community.

Both the Halal Food Authority and its then employees Mr Kara and Mr Parkar were deeply affected and distressed by the spread of this false information and feared for their own safety.

In the High Court this week, Barrister for the Claimants Ben Gallop from 5RB Chambers read out a statement in open court to put on record the position of the Claimants. The statement can be found her (insert statement).

Of their victory, Mr Shah says, ‘I’m delighted that my clients can finally get on with their lives and put this disturbing incident behind them. Sadly, the damage to individuals and communities is often done before cases reach court. This case is a clear example that defamatory allegations against the Muslim community will no longer be tolerated. Shaar Bridge Solicitors stand ready to assist all communities in this endeavour. I would also like to thank Counsel Greg Callus and Ben Gallop from 5RB Chambers for their invaluable assistance and guidance in this case”.
